Can You See the Real Me? BBC4

Recently screened, this fantastic BBC made documentary detailing the making of The Who’s Quadrophenia is a great watch. You couldn’t get closer to the story of the making of the album with Pete Townshend visiting old haunts, shown chatting with Richard Barnes and Irish Jack in a pie and mash shop discussing the original mod movement and some great footage of The Who performing. It’s a heartfelt and  frank blow by blow account from Townshend regarding the impetus for the creating of the album and the difficulties in realising his vision. It was a huge undertaking, one that Townshend single handedly controlled from start to finish.
