Subcultures on Channel 4

Aired this week on Channel 4 was the first instalment of a series of programmes on british subcultures and street style. Directed by Don Letts and sponsored by Fred Perry the story starts with emergence of the teenager on Britains streets in the 50’s. Teddy boys, rockers and ton-up boys get the ball rolling and there’s some fine footage alongside interviews with people like robert elms, paul gorman, eddie pillar, jeff dexter, lloyd johnson and peter york. Its good stuff.
